What’s Happening in Murphys this Week March 19 through April 15, 2013

Murphys, CA...Save the Date - May 4, 2013 - Sierra Foothills Artisan Cheese and Wine Festival - Hosted by Lavender Ridge Vineyard from 12pm - 4pm. Sample award winning artisan cheese from regional cheese producers while meeting the cheese makers themselves and learning about their cheese making process. Wine tasting and wine pairing will be offered by Lavender Ridge Vineyard and Coppermine Winery and will include their award-winning Rhone and Bordeaux varietals. Take a guided tour of the winery and caves and meet the winemaker Rich Gilpin who will be offering workshops on hand crafted wine making. Numerous additional workshops will be offered throughout the day and the event includes an artisan marketplace. It Pays to Shop Local - The Ironstone Heritage Museum, Marisolio Tasting Bar and Creative Cookware each
offer discounts on Tuesdays and Wednesdays while, on Wednesdays, Tea an' Tiques offers Calaveras residents
& seniors as young as 65 a 10% discount on the purchase of any box or tin of TEA.. Restrictions apply but
make sure to let them know you're a local when you're out supporting our local businesses.

March Fiber Artist Showing at Milliaire Tasting Room - Milliaire Winery invites you to stop in the tasting
room at 276 Main Street to see the creative designs of local Murphys fiber artist Elizabeth Scharb and her line
27 Blossoms. Featured in the tasting room are table runners, aprons and tea towels with wine and food themes,
which pair wonderfully with a bottle of Milliaire Zinfandel. We hope that you will visit the tasting room, sample
some award winning wines and take a few moments to appreciate Elizabeth’s artistry.

March Artist Showing at Hovey Tasting Room - The serigraphs and CityScape photographs of Don Hukari
will be featured for the month of March at the Hovey Winery Tasting Room. Hukari’s CityScapes are a series of
digital photographs of building glass reflections that have been altered to create geometric patterns in striking
colors. Subjects include buildings from Florida and New York to San Francisco and Sacramento. Hovey Tasting

Tuesdays in Murphys - Winemakers Night at Alchemy - every Tuesday night
from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. Enjoy a featured wine and a great meal. As always, there is

Wednesdays & Thursdays in Murphys - Romantic Dinners for Two with
Live Music at Angelos Steakhouse Italiano. Matt Cullen plays on Wednesdays

Fridays & Saturdays in Murphys - Local Food Tours - Join Murphys Food and Wine Tours every Friday and
Saturday from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm. Each tour is approximately three hours long and enough food is enjoyed
to be considered a full meal. You’ll get the inside story about the area’s rough-and-tumble past. Tickets for the

Fridays & Saturday in Murphys- Zucca After Hours Wine Bar -Friday and Saturday
nights, our garden will be open from 5-8 pm for Wine Bar service “al’Italiano”. Pick your
favorite seat and enjoy our wines by the glass and a small bread plate. Live music on
select nights.

Saturdays in Murphys - Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Murphys are
available at no charge (donations gratefully accepted) on Saturday mornings at 10am
leaving from the Old Timers Museum. Please contact Jo Sanders at 209-728-3072 to

March 23, 2013 - Sierra Film Festival Opening Night at the Black Bart Playhouse - Doors open at 5:30
pm - Tickets are $10 at the door, $8 in advance. Order on line. Find descriptions of all films and make advance
ticket reservations at the Festival Festival site.

March 31, 2013 – Easter Brunch at Ironstone Vineyards - Join the Easter Bunny for a delightful brunch with
two seatings at 10:30 & 1:00. Adults: $ 34.95 ( plus tax & gratuity) Children 7-12 years 14.95 ( plus tax &
gratuity) Children 6 and under $ 7.95 ( plus tax & gratuity ) Also don’t forget the Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt.

April 2, 2013 - Kids Cooking Class at Marisolio - 10:00AM Marisolio Tasting Bar, 488 Main Street, Murphys.
Kids are on Spring Break this week, and may enjoy joining us for our first ever Kids Cooking Class. Kids will
make stuffed pizza sandwiches out of dough and a variety of fillings. Healthy green salad topped with their own
dressing creations complete the menu. Mary Trotter and Debbie Callahan are the instructors. Cost is $25. Call

April 5, 2013 - “The Autism Chronicles” – Black Bart Playhouse at 7 pm - “The Autism Chronicles,”
endeavors to provide insight into what dealing with autism is like and what a group of dedicated people at the
Mind Matters Clinic in Murphys is doing to ease the burdens. Written by Mark Wilson, directed by Terri Wilson, the
hour-long play uses the actual words of the people portrayed to tell its stories. It has poignancy laced with
humor. Admission is ten dollars per person if reserved in advance and twelve dollars at the door. Information
may be obtained, and reservations made, by calling 728-2184.
