Second Annual Off The Beaten Path Walk/Run For Autism Awareness

Murphys, CA...Prizes will be awarded in twelve categories for the fastest times when the second annual Off the Beaten Path – Walk/Run for Autism Awareness is held Saturday, April 27 under the auspices of Mind Matters, the Murphys based clinic that treats autism and related disorders. Male and female runners in the five mile event will compete in six age groups: 12 and under, 13 to 19, 20 to 35, 36 to 50, 51 to 65, and over 65. Murphys resident Brian Dusquenel, a retired CHP officer and metal sculptor, is creating the specially designed awards...

Participants will have the chance to either run or walk in the 5-mile or a 2.5-mile course beginning in the Murphys Community Park at 9 a.m. and continuing past rolling hills and beautiful vineyards along Six Mile Rd. Check-in will begin at 8 a.m.

“This is an important fundraiser for Mind Matters,” states Gloria Miller, who is coordinating the event. “In addition to the money we receive from the participants, we are fortunate to have several civic-mined sponsors. They include Murphys Pharmacy, Northwestern Mutual, SolarUniverse, Tribble & Ayala, Sandra & Greg Teter, Mark Twain Medical Center, Pinnacle Physical Therapy, Serenity Springs, Black Oak Casino, Rocky Hill Retreat, and El
Dorado Savings Bank.”

The entry fee is $15 for those registering by April 17. On-site registrations will be $20. Each participant will receive a specially designed t-shirt.
Entry blanks are available at many locations including the Mind Matters office, 150 Big Trees Rd. in Murphys. They may also be downloaded from the MM website www.mindmattersclinic.org. Further information is available at 728-2184.
