Murphys, CA...Zucca Mountain Vineyards tasting room and wine club manager receives her Wine Business MBA from Sonoma State University. Jody Jurgens, a 2006 graduate of Bret Harte High School, continued her education at Sonoma State University studying Wine Business Strategies and Marketing. Owners Carol and Gary Zucca generously offered Jody an internship in the summer of 2009, a requirement for her to receive her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2011. Jody just returned from a two week tour of Italy, assisting the Zucca’s with a wine club tour. The 13-day tour through northern Italy not only included visiting renowned cities of Milan, Venice and Florence, but included nightly wine pairing and unique wine tours. The trip included private tours to small family wineries tasting varietals such as Chianti and Spumante. The group got to meet the owners and talk to the winemakers about their vineyards and winemaking procedures. The trip also included a tour of the Gamba barrel-making factory where they make regular and giant casks commonly used in Italy. The group definitely got a taste of great Italian wines, similar to the fabulous wines produced by Zucca here in Sierra Foothills.
