Bear Valley Music Festival Opens Up Their 2013 Season Tomorrow Night
Bear Valley, CA...From Gershwin to Garland: A Delightful Award-Winning Musical Journey with Richard Glazier Opening Night of the 2013 Bear Valley Music Festival- Friday July 26th- Area Bus Service Available Award-winning pianist and master storyteller, Richard Glazier, will take us on a musical tour of the golden age of American Popular Song from George Gershwin to Judy Garland and much more.
Using his piano as a time machine, Glazier starts when Ragtime was King and continues through the decades that followed, with stops in Tin Pan Alley, Broadway and Hollywood. Glazier's exciting piano performances are made even more meaningful with rare film and audio clips combined with warm, witty and fascinating inside stories to accompany the glorious music. Glazier brings new life to old favorites, and his narration never fails to dazzle an audience and give them an evening to remember---so real and deep is his passion for the music. His program concludes with the complete solo piano version of Rhapsody in Blue.
Glazier won multiple awards for his PBS television shows, including four Telly Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Entertainment, Documentary and Cultural Programming. Festival audiences will experience his celebrated TV special in person, as on stage, from the keyboard of a gorgeous Steinway concert grand, we see portraits of his musical heroes looking over his shoulders as Glazier shares his stories. Some favorite songs include: Embraceable You, I Got Rhythm, Someone to Watch Over Me, Over the Rainbow, Love is Here to Stay, Concerto in F, An American in Paris.
