Murphys, CA...It Pays to Shop (and Taste) Local - The Ironstone Heritage Museum, Marisolio Tasting Bar and Creative Cookware each offer discounts on Tuesdays and Wednesdays while, on Wednesdays, Tea an' Tiques offers Calaveras residents & seniors a discount on the purchase of any box or tin of TEA.. Twisted Oak offers complimentary wine tastings on Tuesdays. Restrictions apply but make sure to let them know you're a local when you're out supporting our local businesses...
Tuesdays in Murphys - Winemakers Night at Alchemy - every Tuesday night from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. Enjoy a featured wine and a great meal. As always, there is live music on the patio from 5:30-8 pm. Call 209.728.0700 for reservations.

Tuesdays, Fridays & Saturdays in Murphys - Local Food Tours - Join Murphys Food and Wine Tours every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 11:00am to 2:30 pm. Each tour is a approximately three and a half hours and covers 1.5 miles of walking along historic Main Street in Murphys and the surrounding streets. You’ll get the inside story about the area’s rough-and-tumble past. It's an adventure for the mind and palate! August 11, 2013 - Hovey Winery invites the public to a free night of theatre, art and music starting at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. Local favorite, Sammy Leverone, will perform a variety of songs on guitar. Afterward, Murphys Creek Theatre presents a 20-minute version of its current sensation, The Complete Wrks of Wllm Shkspre, on the lawn. In addition, the celebrated works of painter Cate Culver are on display in the tasting room. Wine will be available for sale by the glass or bottle and light appetizers will be served. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and seating is festival style.
August 13, 2013 - Greek Cooking Class at Marisolio at 10:00 AM or 6:00 PM - Join us for a hands-on venture into Greek Cooking. Instructor Heather Cooper, recent graduate of the Columbia Culinary & Pastry Arts Program will guide us in making Dolmathes, Chick Pea Salad, Lamb Gyros and more. August 16, 2013 - Mollie O'Brien at Twisted Oak - The final Twisted Folk concert of the season will feature Mollie O'Brien & Rich Moore with Eric Thorin on Friday August 16th at 7:30 pm under the stars at the Twisted Oak Winery at 4280 Red Hill Road in Vallecito. Gates open at 6:30 pm. A hot dinner will be available for purchase along with Twisted Oak wines, popcorn, soft drinks and brownies. You are welcome to bring a picnic but no outside alcohol please. Seating at Twisted Oak is outdoor festival style so bring a low backed beach chair or blanket and a sweater as evenings can get chilly.
