18th Annual Logging Jamboree Was a Huge Success
White Pines, CA...In the case of the Logging Museum's Jamboree, the Rim Fire, despite being such a catastrophe for so many, may have been a major contributor to the attendance at this years event. We think it was the largest attendance there has ever been, the folks ate a whole lot of food, bought a lot of raffle tickets, and generally had a wonderful time. Timing was such that we had a number of professional loggers who had been on the fire, but were able to attend and compete. This included competition director, Steve Kafka, who had been on the fire just a few days before the Jamboree.
As always The Sierra Logging Museum is a must stop visit when you are in our area. Not only for events like the Logging Jamboree but for Logging history or even just a great place to have a picnic lunch.
The professional competition usually ends up with the same individuals, or families dominating the competition.
This is Nate Hodges out on the limb with his saw. Nate took second in the overall competition this year. Photo from a couple of years ago.
This is George Harrison of the legendary logging family, the Harrisons, with the chrome ax he won a few years ago. George Harrison won the overall competition this year. The Harrison's son, Eyler Harrison won 3rd place, with the intention of winning higher ranking in the future, it's a family tradition.
