Co-owners, Nicole Cockshott and Gail Szukalski met while Nicole was working an office job and Gail was working retail. Gail was also making and selling jewelry and Nicole was dabbling in the "craft" business on the side. After doing a few craft fairs together, they decided to hold a "Boutique" one Thanksgiving weekend at Gail's house
It was quite successful and more importantly, the feedback positive. What the heck! Craft fairs were such a pain, why not open a gift shop! The girls decided to quit their "real" jobs and get moving.
The pair started out by doing the sensible thing and met with a business consultant. They decided that his suggestion of drafting a "Business Plan" would be too complicated. They already had the space picked out and lease signed, how hard could running a business be? They were done texturing the walls and painting their new digs so they decided to go shopping! How can you open a store without stuff to sell? To them, that was going to be their "business plan".
So after word got out and MANY people told the two that they might as well kiss their friendship goodbye (business & friendship apparently don't mix) they headed off to San Francisco for their very first show.
Fast-forward 12 years: Marriages, births, deaths, teenagers, babies, good health & bad, memorable vacations, gift shows & Thai food, Fine-Things and more importantly, the friendship has endured.
Thank you to all of our customers ~ past, present & future ~that have supported us all these years (As well as our VERY understanding husbands!)
