Bear Valley Cross County's Trail System Opens Tomorrow

Bear Valley Cross Country's trail system will open on Saturday, December 14th with a selection of groomed trails. The Sledding/Tubing Area will need more snow before it can open - however, there are snow play opportunities at the nearby SnoPark areas. Please check back for updates. Bear Valley lies in the heart of the Central Sierra between the Mokelumne and Carson Iceberg Wilderness areas. You will enjoy an extensive trail system of over 3,000 acres. Amenities include 35 trails carefully groomed for track and skate skiing and snowshoeing, the trailside Meadow Cafe, a complete rental, demo and retail facility, 4 trailside huts, picnic tables, park benches, two kids' ski trails, a waxing hut, groomed downhill practice area and a sledding/tubing facility. Trails are open from 9am to 4:30pm daily. The elevation of 7,000 to 7,800 feet guarantees first to open (usually mid November) and last to close (usually mid April) status among Sierra cross country centers...

Bear Valley Village offers a variety of lodging options, all walking or skiing distance from the trails. From ski in, ski out cabin rentals, to family friendly condos and a classic ski lodge, you will find a nice place to stay. Bear Valley is a short drive from the Bay Area. With no stop lights for over 35 miles and little traffic and no avalanche areas, all-weather Highway 4 (now a National Scenic Byway) is an easy driving route to your next winter recreation adventure. Nearby Bear Valley Mountain, one of California's finest mid-sized snow sport destinations, has all the amenities you come to expect at a modern area including 9 lifts and nearly 2,000 vertical feet of super scenic runs.

The Cross Country Center converts to the Bear Valley Adventure Company in the summer with bike rentals, sales and repair, flatwater kayak school and rentals, a variety of special events and races and is your connection to all of Bear Valley's summer adventures.

PAUL SAYS

Bear Valley Cross Country will be opening tomorrow (Sat. 12/14) with a selection of groomed trails for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. The Sledding/Tubing Hills will need more snow before they can open. Snow play opportunities are available at the nearby SnoPark areas.

The new sport of Fat Snow Biking requires firm packed snow for trail riding. When the snow conditions are right, we'll offer hourly rentals in the mornings (9-noon, trail pass required on our trails) on certain days of the week, and will offer a nice selection of marked fat bike trails. Check back with us regarding availability.

We all look forward to seeing you soon.
