Winter Wonderland Celebration at Big Trees State Park is December 27th
Big Trees, CA...Calaveras Big Trees State Park -- Snow is on the ground and the Christmas tree in historic Jack Knight Hall is decorated for the biggest park event of the winter: the Winter Wonderland celebration on Friday Dec. 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This 4th annual event includes a scenic wagon ride inside the park with views of giant sequoias and -- weather permitting -- an Alpenhorn concert in the woods. There will also be crafts for kids, holiday music, hot cocoa and cider and cookies...
Tickets are available in advance online for $12.50 for adults and $8.50 for children. The price includes entrance to the park (normally $10). Buy tickets online at winter2013.eventsbot.com.
If space is available tickets at the door will cost $15 and $10 respectively, plus the admission fee.
Winter Wonderland is an annual fund-raising event sponsored by volunteers helping the Calaveras Big Trees Association raise money to pay for educational and interpretive programs throughout the year. More details are available at www.bigtrees.org or call 209-795-3840.
Calaveras Big Trees Association (CBTA) can trace its roots to the original Calaveras Grove Association organized in 1926 by a group of individuals intent on preserving the historic groves for future generations. Through their efforts Calaveras Big Trees State Park was born on July 5, 1931.
The Calaveras Big Trees Association was founded in 1974 by a new group of interested people with a revised purpose: as a private, non-profit, charitable 501(c)(3) corporation to support the interpretive and environmental educational programs at Calaveras Big Trees State Park. These programs enable visitors to understand, appreciate, conserve, enjoy and explore Calaveras Big Trees State Park. CBTA uses membership fees, donations and fundraising to accomplish this mission. Membership is open to individuals, families, and businesses. The board members are all volunteers
