Rotarians Play Santa to 200 Families

San Andreas, CA...Angels-Murphys Rotary Club and the West Calaveras Rotary Club got together to pack and deliver turkeys and food to about 200 low-income seniors, individuals and families in Calaveras County. “Many of our home-bound seniors and families who find it difficult to get down to the Food Bank will be served today,” said Jeannie Hayward, director of The Resource Connection Food Bank. “This will alleviate the number of cars coming through on December 20th – our Santa’s Express Distribution Day. I know many of these families are so grateful for the fact that our local Rotarians take the time to deliver the Santa’s Express food baskets to them. Along with the Rotarians and their families, volunteers from Sierra Ridge Rite of Passage came to help as well...

It was a fun-filled morning with Christmas music playing in the background and Rotarians driving through to pick up the food and then off to play “Santa” to those less fortunate in our community. Along with their distribution, they raised $5,000 for Santa’s Express to purchase food. A huge “Thank You” from all of us at The Resource Connection Food Bank and Santa’s Express to all who helped pack and deliver Santa’s Express food baskets!”

The Resource Connection’s mission is:
“Engaging Families, Empowering Communities, and Enriching Lives”

Today, the Resource Connection has a dedicated community Board and a professional staff of approximately 120 people. Current programs include: The Resource Connection Food Bank, Head Start/Early Childhood Programs, WIC (Women, Infants, and Children), Calaveras Crisis Center, and Childcare Resource and Referral.
