Found Camera And Pictures Looking To Return Home After Extended Absense

Lake Alpine, CA...I recently was out hiking off hwy 4, near the Woodchuck Basin trailhead, and while climbing up a hillside ridge I found a small digital camera, a Canon Powershot SD 1000, that had obviously been laying on the ground for quite some time (years). Where I found it was not close to any defined trail, I was climbing cross-country, so it might have lain there for decades before being accidentally found...

Anyone Look Familiar In This Fine Photo? If So...Email Us At news@ThePineTree.net

I’ve attached a picture I took at home of the camera.

When I got the camera home I found that it still had the memory card in it and when I put the card in my computer found that there were about a dozen photos on the card. There is no name or other identification as to the owner on the camera. The photos were taken on 3-26-2010 and 3-27-2010. The last photos taken look like a family was on a snow hike at night probably at the location where I found the camera.

I’ve attached one of the last photos from the camera of the family on the snow hike.

Having lost cameras myself while hiking and always regretting the lost photos, I would very much like to return the camera to its owner. The camera probably doesn’t work any longer having lain exposed to the snow and rain for over three years, but the photos might be something they’d want.

My suggestion is that if you could publish the group photo on the Pinetree and ask if anyone recognizes any of the people in the photo. There is a chance these are locals and someone might know them.
