False Advertising
Posted on: 2014-01-23 06:53:08   By: Anonymous

Posting here since the Roscelli ad below doesn't have a comment button. What the heck?? You say there are going to be "monsoonal" rains in February? How do you know this? We are in the middle of the worst drought in 150 years, maybe worst ever. And you predict "monsoonal" rains? You should be charged by the DA for FALSE advertising. Of course, they don't have time for petty issues like this, but if I hired you on a roof based on this ad I would sure use you for false advertising come Mach 1. Shame on you.

Wow! Get a sense of humor. It's called advertising. Most with intelligence didn't take the ad so seriously. By the way, we don't call them monsoons around here either.

More like failed humor, that's really not funny.

We are very aware of the seriousness of the lack of rain. It is affecting the area economically and this years fire season could be almost tragic. We were just trying to have a sense of humor on the situation.

We believe our viewers are intelligent and savvy enough to see that it was satire.

Then put it in italics, quotation marks or make it more obvious. Making a joke in an ad takes finesse otherwise it is labeled as false advertising. Yours is false advertising the way it was portrayed nor given exaggeration. The average consumer could easily fall for this ploy.
