Case Refereed to DA's Office for Possible Charges in Vallecito Shooting Incident...Corrected

Vallecito, CA...Yesterday we reported on a shooting incident in Vallecito that drew a large law enforcement presence. The good news is that there were no injuries. The following is a statement from Calaveras County Sheriff's Sergeant Chris Hewitt. "After a considerable amount of manpower, we did take the alleged suspect into custody. We had the “victim”, an employee with Trees, Inc., a subcontractor for PGE, attempt to conduct an in-field identification of the guy we had in custody. The “Victim” was not able to ID the man as the person who shot at him, so we had no choice but to release the “suspect” without charges. The case was refereed to the Calaveras County DA's office for investigation and possible charges."

Yesterday it was reported that a subject had taken a shot at PG&E employee who had come onto his property. The subject then reportedly barricaded himself in the residence.

He was subsequently arrested without incident.

Editor's Note: We have corrected the article to reflect that charges may be forthcoming from the DA's Office based on their investigation of the matter.

Its not over as long as his substance abuse problem is unchecked. They should have charged him with attempted murder and put the nut job away.

I barricade myself indoors when I'm innocent as well. (Did you catch the sarcasm? )

      ^^ So do I.

But mostly because there's a lot of "those kinds" of people out there.

This incident will not fade away for those people who need to access this property to maintain the utility easements.

The whole incident reminds me of Mr. Hamm between San Andreas and Valley Springs, but in the end he got his.

Since I did see where he "incident" took place and know the owner, this anger problem is on-going with him. He is a long time resident of the county but appears to think it is OK to threaten others. Never heard of him taking action before though.
Too bad the man could not identify him. Also too bad that barricading yourself in your home and not coming out when the police request you show yourself is not a crime.

Are you seriously saying that it should be a crime if the police come to your house, even if its for no reason at all, and if you don't open that you should go to jail? What kind of Ahola are you?

how is this shooting any different from what is happening in Maryland today? A guy has a gun, he starts shooting and people are in danger. In Maryland it's an all out man hunt. Here, not so much. What is wrong with this county?

      Not again:

Gunfire erupted in a Columbia, Maryland, shopping mall Saturday morning, leaving at least three people dead, according to the Howard County Police Department's Twitter account.

Authorities reported that an active shooter was on the second floor of the sprawling mall in Columbia in Howard County, according to CNN affiliate WBAL. Local scanner reports had authorities requesting multiple mass casualty units.

One subject dead is suspected shooter. No information about other victims yet.

Hopefully that means the danger is over. For now, at this location. But how long until the next time we're hearing news like this?
