Fire Update...Fully Involved Structure Fire in Bear Valley

Bear Valley, CA...We just confirmed with TCU Command a fully involved structure off of Bear Valley Road in Bear Valley. Earlier today there was a 3 acres vegetation fire in Glencoe. Way too early in 2014 for fires....lets be careful out there....

Glencoe got lucky
Posted on: 2014-01-26 05:36:24   By: Anonymous

With high humidity Glencoe got very lucky Saturday afternoon. Air Attack 501 and 2 Air Tankers had to be called up out of Holister to back up all of the ground crews involved which included State Engines, County Fire Districts, Water Tenders and Hand Crews with two State Engines out of Amador County and a Dozer called up out of Sonora on assignment. Copter 404 which normally operates out of the Columbia Air Base was already committed to a fire near Fresno as was another Copter out of another air base. PG&E was on scene soon after the incident was reported w/power lines down. Great job on all of the response times by all of the agencies involved. As I said Glencoe got lucky. This time.

Simpson Road is not in Glencoe, it's in Rail Road Flat.

Go look on a map. Glencoe is just North of the fire. Railroad Flat was North and East of the fire. Simpson Road runs in a huge loop South of both Glencoe and Railroad Flat. The canyon it was in runs from the South West to the North East. If that fire had really gotten going and gone air borne instead of staying on the ground you could have kissed all that are good bye. Luckily they had NO WIND in that canyon yesterday. Be thankful it was in Winter and not in August. Google Earth the location. Steep terrain, canyons, heavy fuels. Scanner traffic was not pretty. It could have been much worse.

There are quite a few places in District 2 where the mailing address is one post office, the building department recognizes a property as another community, and the locals may even call it another one.

The entirety of Jesus Maria Rd. has a Moke Hill mailing address because that's the origin of the rural route carrier, but property addresses for the building Dept call it Mountain Ranch. Almost the same thing for Mountain ranch Rd.

Where have you guys been? Under a rock? Several wildfires have happened already due to lack of rain, snow and cold temperatures.

Word has it that the fire started OUTSIDE of the structure. The folks inside the structure were able to make it out. Everyone is safe, including the dog. The fire is being investigated at this time, and no further information as to the cause of the fire.
