Hope everyone will be ok. How many times do you see logging trucks speeding and driving unsfaely and how many accidents have you read about. Now ask yourself when was the last time you saw a gasoline or propane truck driving over the speed limit? Rather be on the same route with gasoline trucks anyday. Maybe their companies pay and treat them better and stress safety. Be the media will not report the party at fault here

Are you nuts? Those trucks put on millions of miles without incident. They are on GPS units so that their speed is being watched constantly.
    You must be from Arnold.

Not all of the trucks have gps, And if they do no one is sitting at a monitor tracking them constantly.

Everyone speeds as they are driving. It doesn't matter if it is a motorcycle or a logging truck. Most likely a DUI unless proven otherwise.

Read the report stupid. It says that the car pulled out in front of the logging truck. I for one have spent 30 plus years and 3 million miles in a truck and the majority of accidents are caused by cars. Its not the time to blame anyone, just a time to pay a little more attention and share the road.

Thank you for straightening out the previous posters. The fact is, in over 60% of accidents involving big rigs, THE CAR IS AT FAULT/ "In those crashes, 98 percent of fatalities occurred in the car. Car drivers were to blame in 75 percent of the accidents, while truckers were deemed responsible in the rest."
            Source:http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=130212&page=1
When you say "most likely" as to the cause of a truck-car accident, better be blaming the car, not the truck.

The report was not posted at the time of the comment you idiot. Most accidents are caused by idiots like you who don't pay attention and most likely are DUI.

were those miles in a logging truck or were you a board or tomato hauler?

Regarding the comments about the trucks having GPS and if they are monitored: All logging trucks that work for SPI do have GPS and are monitored. My thoughts are with the family of the 19 year old and with the truck driver. As should be your thoughts instead of all the negitive comments.

Seriously? A young girl has lost her life and you are bickering like school children about details we cannot possibly know at this point?

This is not the time.

My thoughts are with the family of the girl and of the trucker.

Please think before you post! Some of the comments are very hurtful to the families of both parties, and to the truck driver I'm sure. Please have some consideration.

I think it would be wise for thepinetree.net to disable comments on stories that involve deaths, because clearly a select few of their readers are incapable of showing respect and remorse.

A bit off topic, but M. Weiss, you are incorrect. The law takes no position on the ability of this site's owners to censor content contained within. If Pinetree.net chose to delete or disable comments on stories involving loss of life, the decision would not function to expose them to any sort of legal liability. In the alternative, it could however, expose them as being human...
