St. Matthew’s Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper to be held on March 4th at Country Cliff’s
San Andreas, CA...The Annual St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper will be held on Tuesday, March 4th at Country Cliff’s in San Andreas. In past years the event was held at St. Matthew’s Parish Hall, but this year the church members decided to reach out to the community to include all who would like to partake of Cliff’s excellent pancakes and be part of the tradition of serving pancakes on the day preceding Lent. Because pancakes were a good way to use up rich foods such as eggs, milk, and sugar, the pancake supper is the last “feast” before the fasting season of the 40 days of Lent begin on the following day, Ash Wednesday....
The supper will be served between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm, a $5 donation per person would be appreciated. Country Cliff’s is located at 345 E. St. Charles (Hwy 49) in San Andreas.
Ash Wednesday Masses will be held at St. Matthew’s, located at 414 Oak Street in San Andreas, a a12:00 noon Low Mass and 6:00 pm Solemn Mass, with imposition of ashes at both services. Throughout Lent, Stations of the Cross & Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will be observed on Friday evenings at 6:00 pm followed by a Soup Supper in the Parish Hall. The Lenten activities will culminate with Holy Week services, beginning with Palm/Passion Sunday, on April 13th at 10:00 am; Maundy Thursday on April 17th at 6 pm; Good Friday, April 18th at Noon and at 6 pm The Way of the Cross. On Holy Saturday, April 19th, The Great Vigil of Easter and the First Solemn Mass of Easter begin at 6:00 pm. On Sunday, April 20th, a 10:00 am Easter Mass will be held, followed by fellowship in the Parish Hall. For more information call St. Matthew’s Church at 754-3878.
