5,234 Miles to Celebrate Heart Health Month
Sonora, CA ... Sonora Regional Medical Center employees participated in a Walk-A-Mile contest during the month of February to celebrate American Heart Health Month and walked a total of 5,234.2 miles – enough miles to walk from Sonora to the middle of South America! Employees formed teams for a total of 174 employees on 44 teams. The average team walked 118 miles during the month of February and the winning team walked 260 miles. The winners are Michelle Gray, Nanette Anderson, Randy Manford and Cindy Haines who all work at the Medical Center’s Job Care clinic...
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Through this friendly competition among employees, practitioners and volunteers, the Medical Center has encouraged healthy lifestyles and would like to remind the community to eat well, quit smoking and exercise regularly to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and death from heart disease and stroke.
