Supervisor Merita Callaway Officially Launches Campaign With Event at Milliaire Tasting Room
Murphys, CA...Recently Calaveras County Supervisor Merita Callaway launched her campaign for re-election with a well attended and festive event. The first of two planned open-to-everyone events, kicked off her campaign for re-election in District 3. The event in the Murphys area allowed her to network with voters in the Murphys/Douglas Flat area. The District has been enlarged via redistricting to include the communities along Hwy 4 down to the Douglas Flat area since the last election. As we were bouncing between events we missed her speech and wanting to be fair on giving the candidates an opportunity to get their messages out we conducted an interview with her in the Children's section of the Arnold Library on the Friday after the event....

Milliaire donated wine for the occasion. Fruit drinks and water were served along with an assortment of tasty snacks. Guitarist Fred Treece, who plays with the groups Tour Guides and Cantamos, will provided the background music.
The second kick-off will be Thursday, March 27, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., in The Hub, 1225 Oak Court, Arnold.
“The people of the northeastern part of the district and I are old friends,” states Callaway. “I have served them as their supervisor for many years and I am anxious to continuing that relationship.”
The Arnold area event will have a similar format. Hovey Winery will provide the wine. At both celebrations, those in attendance will have a chance to purchase tickets for a raffle featuring wine and fine art as prizes.
“This is a critical time for Calaveras County,” said Callaway. “We are facing many serious decisions that must be based on a thorough knowledge of how county government works and what solutions are feasible. I have diligently served the people of the county through good times and bad. I am confident that I have the talent and the temperament to help chart the best possible course for the next four years.”
The primary election will be June 3.
