It Pays to Shop (and Taste) Local - The Ironstone Heritage Museum, Marisolio Tasting Bar and Creative Cookware each offer discounts on Tuesdays and Wednesdays while, on Wednesdays, Tea an' Tiques offers Calaveras residents & seniors a discount on the purchase of any box or tin of TEA.. Twisted Oak offers complimentary wine tastings on Tuesdays. Restrictions apply but make sure to let them know you're a local when you're out supporting our local businesses...



April Artist Showing at Hovey Tasting Room - Murphys, March 23, 2014 – The rich and colorful paintings of Patricia Cherry will be showcased the month of April at Hovey Winery Tasting Room, 350 A Main St., Murphys. An artist’s reception in her honor will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 6, with complimentary appetizers and wine available by the glass for $5.

April Artist Showing at Art on Main - The "Featured Artist of the Month" for March is Patricia Cherry. Patricia Cherry's paintings are an exploration of her response to nature. Using natures abstract patterns both as a source of inspiration and as compositional element. She is most known for her command of color and light, producing effects that allude but do not imitate nature.

Tuesdays in Murphys - Winemakers Night at Alchemy - every Tuesday night from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. Enjoy a featured wine and a great meal. As always, there is live music on the patio from 5:30-8 pm. Call 209.728.0700 for reservations.

Fridays & Saturdays in Murphys - Local Food & Wine Tours - Join Murphys Food and Wine Tours every Friday and Saturday from 11:00am to 2:30 pm. Each tour is approximately three and a half hours. You’ll get the inside story about the area’s rough-and-tumble past. Purchase tickets online by visiting Local-Food-Tours.com or by calling 800-407-8918 directly. Private group tours are available by appointment.

Fridays and Saturdays at Zucca Tasting Room - "Zucca After Hours" is open 5-8 pm. If you're looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a glass of wine on a Friday or Saturday night, the Zucca garden is your place. All those firepits are even better to sit by on a cool winter evening. If the weather is just too yucky, we've got some nice bar seating in the Toscano room. And we always welcome your picnic items or takeout from area restaurants should you want to make a night of it."

Saturdays in Murphys - Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Murphys are available at no charge (donations gratefully accepted) on Saturday mornings at 10am leaving from the Old Timers Museum. Please contact Jo Sanders at 209-728-3072 to confirm dates and times or make arrangements for large groups.

Through April 19th - Rumors at the Black Bart Theatre - Opening March 21st at the Black Bart Playhouse in Murphys will be Neil Simon’s hilarious farce, “Rumors” directed by Graham Scott Green. “Rumors” will run through April 19th at the Black Bart Playhouse. April 19, 2014 - Sierra Nevada Film Festival - Come for excellent wine tasting, good company, a relaxed evening and a great film Saturday,

April 19. Once again we will be hosted by Newsome-Harlow Winery, on Main Street in Murphys. The film is Tell It on the Mountain, part adventure film, part documentary, part video journal. This is a free event! Check out the film trailer at www.sierrafilmfest.org, and plan to spend a very fun evening. Doors open at 7:00, the film begins at dusk.

April 20, 2014 - Native Sons of the Golden West Monthly Breakfast - Chispa Parlor #139 of the Native Sons of the Golden West will serve an All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast at the Native Sons Hall from 7:30 to 11:30 am. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, orange juice, coffee and hot chocolate will be served. The breakfast is served on the third Sunday of each month.
