Art in Action At Michelson School May 1st and 2nd

Murphys, CA...This event comes to Michelson school with the intent of exposing the students to a variety of visual art forms. With this in mind, many of the community’s artists have volunteered their time and expertise to demonstrate their medium to the students...

We have 8 artists participating this year. Groups of students from Kindergarten through 5th grades have about 15 minutes with each of the artists scheduled for the day. This event will take place over the course of two morning sessions. The intent is for the children to have a first-hand experience with working artists in order to possibly pursue the medium themselves in their future. The California State Standards for the Visual Arts defines this exposure for all students.

A lovely luncheon for the artists and volunteers will be provided by the Michelson Parent’s Club. Their support is most appreciated.

This year Art in Action was organized by Susan King, a retired teacher from the district, and Michelson Parents Club president, Lori Johnston.
To culminate the event, Friday afternoon the students will enjoy a music performance by Mr. Dyken and Jill Warren.
