Calaveras County Arts Council 17th Annual High School Art Show

San Andeas, CA ... The Calaveras County Arts Council announced “Silenced” by Mikayla Kunesh of Bret Harte High School as the winner of Best of Show in the 17th Annual High School Art Show. “Silenced” can be viewed at Gallery Calaveras, 22 Main Street, San Andreas, CA.

“Silenced” by Mikayla Kunesh is by far the most loved piece in this year’s event. This wonderful, colorful acrylic painting also won first place in its category. The feeling from the judges and visitors to Gallery Calaveras is that Mikayla’s work reflects the talent and technique of someone much beyond her teenage years. It captures emotion, depth and light . . . and commands thoughtful attention. Many of this year and past years ArtSpirit works are on display at the Calaveras County Office of Education. If you are interested in seeing the collection, contact CCOE at (209) 736-4662 for more information.
CCAC would like to thank all of the talented students for their submissions and an extra helping of gratitude and praise is due to their dedicated teachers: Donna Guadagni, Suzanne Smith, Mark Waelty and the staff of Mountain Oaks School.
Gallery Calaveras is open Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm., Fridays and Saturdays 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The Gallery Store exhibits and sells high quality art pieces created by local artists in all the mediums. The store has visual, ceramic, and fabric art, hand painted and photograph cards, jewelry, and hand turned wood bowls, books written by local authors, music and much more. Many pieces in the Store honor the theme “My Favorite Spring”. For more information, phone the Arts Council at (209) 754-1774 or visit
