Calaveras County Wine Judging Results
Frogtown, Ca... Our local wine has been one of Calaveras County's pride and joys since the first days of the Gold Rush. As local wineries have made themselves known over the years by developing and producing outstanding vintages, Calaveras County has made itself known, with many local wineries participating this year in the Calaveras Wine Competition that occurred on Friday, May 2, 2014. We have the complete list of the award-winning wines and wineries entered from Amador, Calaveras, and Tuolumne Counties here...
With categories such as Chardonnay, Semillon, Viognier, Sauvignon Blac, Pinot Grigio, and countless more, the competition received a wide variety of entries. Black Sheep Winery won the honor of "Best of Calaveras" with their "Lily Pad White," from their True Frogs Lily Pad Collection. Other local wineries, such as Ironstone Vineyards, Hovey Winery, Milliaire Winery, Chatom Vineyards, Hatcher Winery, Frog's Tooth Vineyards, Twisted Oak Winery, Renegade Winery, Newsome Harlow Wines, La Folia Winery, Mineral Wines, and Bodega Del Sur Winery, all won awards for their wines.
