Visitors and residents can enjoy a relaxing and memorable rafting experience on the 2014 Mokelumne River Rafting Adventure, 11am or 3pm, Sunday, June 8, 2014. Local rafting company O.A.R.S. has secured a Special-Use Permit to raft a gorgeous, mostly gentle, six-mile stretch of the Mokelumne River as a thank-you gift to community members who donate $75 per person to the Calaveras Mentoring Foundation. June 8th is one of the especially scheduled recreational flow days this year on the Moke, which makes rafting possible. Seating is limited and available by advance reservation only. Information and reservations are available online at calaverasmentoring.org/rafting, or by calling the Calaveras Mentoring Foundation at (209) 736-7706. (Please leave a message and your call will be returned as soon as possible.)
The trip is appropriate for ages 7 and up. Located near Jackson, this stretch of river is considered Class II-III and features several long, peaceful pools with a bit of excitement near the end.
O.A.R.S. sets itself apart from other adventure companies by providing the most knowledgeable, passionate, entertaining guides in the business; top-of-the-line, rigorously maintained equipment; and the largest number and most geographically diverse rafting trips in the West.
The Calaveras Mentoring Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to raising public awareness and support of the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program, which connects local youth with safe, positive mentors who offer friendship, opportunity, and support for making healthy life decisions.
