Greenhorn Creek Announces Opening Day for Golf Academy “Family Fun Fest” May 31st, 2014 Showcases Golf, Tennis and Summer Programs

Angels Camp, CA...Greenhorn Creek Resort known for its challenging course and excellent golf instruction, announced Opening day for Jr Golf Academy will be Saturday May 31st, 2014. Greenhorn’s Jr Golf Academy, now in its 5th Year, is a comprehensive program that includes group and private instruction, video analysis and club fitting. Led by PGA Teaching Professional Chris Borrego and PGA Head Professional Allan Ramorini, the Golf Pro’s bring more than 25 years of professional golf instruction to local youths....

"Greenhorn Creek’s junior golf academy is a great starting point for kids that may want to compete at a higher level or just learn the game for the first time” said Chris Borrego, PGA Teaching Professional at Greenhorn Creek. “Several top players in the Mother Lode League have come through our academy and have earned MVP awards, league championships, and college scholarships.”

Coinciding with “Golf Academy Opening Day” is the resort’s “FAMILY FUN FEST”. The public is invited to enjoy a day of FREE activities for the entire family. The event will showcase Summer programs offered by the resort including; golf instruction (no clubs needed) for Junior and Adults, meet & greet with tennis and golf pros, Greenhorn Creek’s Summer Membership offer, raffles prizes, free hot dogs and drinks will be provided.

The events take place May 31, 2014 from 10:00am – 2:00pm at the Driving Range at Greenhorn Creek Resort located at 675 McCauley Road in Angels Camp, CA. Those interested in the Jr Golf Academy are encouraged to call the pro shop in advance at 209-729-8111 to schedule a video swing analysis that will be offered to a limited number of participants. Attendees should look for the tents at the Golf Driving Range area to sign up for activities.

In a separate release, the resort announced the appointment of Tennis Professional Michael Stange who will be talking with the public about the new Tennis programs and clinics that will launch this June at Greenhorn Creek.

For more information on either event, call (209) 729-8111 or visit www.greenhorncreek.com.

About Chris Borrego As a PGA Class A Professional for more than19 years, Chris has developed his teaching philosophy from giving lessons to many different types of individuals and groups. “One swing does not fit all golfers. It is incumbent on us as instructors to work within each person’s experience and ability to make them the best they can be.” Chris started playing golf as a junior in High School with Daryl Pief as his coach. He continued playing through Junior College and graduated from California State University at Sacramento in 1992. While working in the outside services at Haggin Oaks golf complex, Chris observed 1962 PGA Professional of the year Tom LoPresti’s teaching style. Chris was Head Professional at Pine Mountain Lake CC for 13 years and has improved the enjoyment of the game to countless, members, seniors and junior golfers. Chris was a member of the 2011 Northern California PGA Cup team for his performance in their tournament series. “I enjoy playing and competing, and I play in as many area Professional events and Pro-Am’s that I can. I am passionate about showing golfers of all ages the fun of golf. Golf is a game we can play for life and it is a constant learning experience.”

About Allan Ramorini
Allan Ramorini is a California Gold Country Native! His family has lived in Angels Camp, for over three generations. Inspired by a local professional, he started playing golf when he was 14 years old. For golfing privileges, he began working at Greenhorn Creek Golf Resort at sixteen. After playing on the golf team at Bret Harte High School, Allan attended Modesto Junior College in California. As Co-MVP, he was recruited to play for The University of Great Falls in Montana for the school’s first intercollegiate team where he played for two years before graduating. While in school, he worked at Meadow Lark Country Club impressing locals with his long drives.

Allan completed his Class A PGA Professional status in 2010 and is now the PGA Head Professional of Greenhorn Creek. Allan is a true athlete dedicated to the game of golf. Has a calm demeanor on the course, chooses his shots well, (often opting to drop a club length for a calculated shot, though he’s a long driver), and he’ll forget a bad shot and focus on the next.
