Angels Camp Farmers Market Excited to Announce New Manager
Angels Camp, Ca... The Angels Camp Certified Farmers Market, set to begin the season at 5 pm on Friday, June 6, at its Utica Park location in historic downtown Angels Camp, announced today that Candy Myers has been appointed the new Market Manager effective immediately. “We are very pleased that Candy Myers is assuming the market manager position,” said Sherri Smith, president of the Angels Camp Business Association which has operated the market since 2006. “Candy has chaired ACBA’s farmers market committee for several years and is very familiar with the vendors and the operations. This year is shaping up to be even better with new farms, exciting entertainment, great local wines and delicious food from our local food trucks. Last year’s growth of the Farmers Market was very exciting,” said Sherri Smith, “and we thank Andrea Modrell, our 2013 market manager, for all her hard work and wish her well in her new teaching career.”...
The market will run every Friday through September 26, and market visitors will be able to enjoy Friday evenings in the park while shopping for fresh, locally grown produce and specialty foods and enjoying exciting entertainment.
The Certified Farmers Market will have familiar farms and food producers that include Oneto Farm, Farbotnik Farm, and Apkarian Family Farm. New farms and specialty foods will include jams and syrups, fresh herbs, gluten free baked goods and eggs. Shoppers will continue to see local olive oil, fresh baked breads and desserts, local foraged mushrooms, nuts and fruits, spices and marinades, kettle corn and much more.
Market favorites Rico’s Taco Truck and T-Roy’s Smoke Shack will be back as food vendors. T-Roy’s Smoke Shack will be offering BBQ sandwiches with slow smoked pulled pork and brisket and sausage links, along with homemade sides. Rico’s will be back with all their delicious Mexican food, including tacos, burritos and quesadillas with a choice of freshly cooked fillings.”
Wine tasting, with a featured local guest winery, and beer and wine sales are offered each week. Every Friday the winemaker or a winery representative will offer wine samples along with sales by the glass and bottle for patrons to enjoy with their dinner or while strolling for fresh local produce and goods or being entertained by our talented musical artists.
“The first two weeks of the market already have an exciting lineup of the best in Calaveras,” said Myers. “Opening night of the market on June 6th will feature the award winning wines of local favorite Chiarella Wines along with live music from the wonderful jazz and funk king Rick Moore. June 13 will feature Angels Camp winery, Mineral Wines, with musical entertainment by the talented and entertaining group Cabby.”
The Angels Camp Farmers Market is celebrating its ninth year and is a community project of the Angels Camp Business Association.
