Juvenile Arrested for Two Valley Springs Arsons

Valley Springs, Ca...On 5-28-14 at 1900 hours, Deputies were patrolling the Valley Springs area when they noticed smoke coming from Valley Springs Elementary School area. They located a grass fire in a planter box near the Historic Burson School House. The deputies noticed that one juvenile was actively trying to extinguish the fire by throwing dirt on top of it, while another juvenile was trying to leave the immediate area. The Deputies detained both juveniles and Cal-Fire was dispatched to fully extinguish the fire. The male juvenile caught trying to leave admitted to setting the fire and was placed under arrest for the act of Arson. He also admitted to starting an earlier fire the same day in the woodchips on the school playground. The juvenile was transported to Juvenile Probation and later placed in a Juvenile Hall out of the county.
