Letter To The Editor On Grant Barrett ~ By Gary Stevens

San Andreaa, CA...I would like to take this opportunity to encourage voters in Calaveras County to vote for Grant Barrett for Judge of the Superior Court, Dept 1. on June 3rd. Grant Barrett has been presiding over cases for more than ten years; divorce cases, settlement conferences, child custody and support, traffic, criminal and civil lawsuit as the judge. Grant was hired by Judge Mewhinney and Judge Martin as the research attorney for the courts. Not long after, Grant was hired as the judge pro-tem, and then as the court commissioner where he currently hears and decides cases. Additionally, Grant remains the court research attorney, which means he provides legal assistance and case law research to the judges in all complicated cases.

The two judges have been preparing and training Grant for the position of Superior Court Judge for the last ten years. Despite claims of a "criminal" court and a "civil" court, all judges must hear any case filed in court. Calaveras County is only allowed by the state to have two judges; we are too small of a county to have specialized courts for judges with limited experience.

The position of judge in the court is one of leadership with proven management skills.

I have personally known Grant for more than 12 years. I know Grant to be honest, dependable, hard working and a knowledgeable man. After more than 24 years in law enforcement, I know Grant is the only person who is qualified to be the next Superior Court Judge in Dept. 1.

I encourage all voters to go to www.barrett4judge.com for more information and to please vote on June 3rd, for Grant Barrett.

Sincerely,
Gary L. Stevens,
San Andreas

Mr. Stevens is to be thanked for taking the time to lay out the facts so reasonably and clearly!

Thank you!

So what your saying Gary is what everyone already knows,
Barrett is responsible for all the illegal rulings coming down from Martin.

Barrett elected - Mewhinney and Martin "DOUBLE DIP"

My take on Barrett's endorsement by Mewhinney and Martin is that they both want to have Barrett hire them on as assigned judges so they can DOUBLE DIP!

Who paid this guy to write such crap about Barrett.
Barrett is experienced in reading law books. Wow!

Apparently, Grant Barrett's donors - Martin and Mewhinney - are busy this morning responding to all the negative comments about Barrett. They will make over $350,000 a year if he is elected.
Corruption in our courts will continue!

I think barrett is not a good judge,he will side with a crack head mom and the dad has to jump through hoops to keep his kids and mom can do what ever she wants. He just says try and work together, it is not working and he does not care.

Cannot vote for Barrett, way too much corruption in our court. From personal experience they just do not listen to any arguments by listening I mean they do not pay attention. After a custody decision, both my ex and I were like "what the heck"? Gave a total opposite decision that we just decided to ignore instead of paying to have it brought up again.

This letter is written by the guy who headed-up Sheriff Kuntz's campaign in 2010...thanks to you, your wife Nicki and Steve Wilenski, the last four years has been "hell" for several people at the Sheriff's office.

Don't think I'll be taking your advice on this candidate...once burned, twice shy?

Sorry Gary, but he is one of the least qualified. If he was really good the governor would have appointed him. You do know , don't you, that before someone is appointed the judicial council sends letters to all the lawyers who may have known him, and those attorneys rate the candidates, and the ratings are confidential and can be very critical. My guess is that there were al lot of negative reviews.
