Professional Recruiter to Attract New Businesses to Angels Camp

Angels Camp, CA – June 17, 2014 – Destination Angels Camp (DAC) has taken a huge step toward its mission of building “a prosperous Angels Camp through economic development programs to retain and attract businesses that benefit Angels Camp residents, businesses and visitors.” Today Paul Hiller, a tenured business attraction specialist, will be introduced to the Angels City Council as DAC’s Director of Business Recruitment responsible for attracting new businesses to the City of Angels. “Paul has what it takes to make this happen,” exclaimed Bob Trinchero, DAC chairman. “We really have a quality professional to lead DAC on its goal to bring more businesses and jobs to Angels Camp.”...

Bob Trinchero, Chairman of DAC, welcomes Paul Hiller to Angels Camp

“We are extremely pleased to have such an accomplished professional working on our behalf,” mirrored Anne Forrest, DAC President and CEO. “We’ve had tremendous support from local businesses and the community to support the retention of an experienced business recruiter. This is the start of a long-term journey to create more and better jobs for Calaveras County residents.”

Hiller is currently moving to Southern California from Boise, Idaho, where he was Executive Director of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Boise Valley Economic Partnership Division, a program that consisted of partnerships of six cities (five of which were small rural communities), three rural counties and 150 private sector companies and local colleges and universities. “In our first four years we created more than 4,800 jobs in the area,” noted Hiller during a phone conversation. He also taught at Boise State University and the College of Western Idaho.

Prior to Boise, Hiller was President and CEO of Inland Empire Economic Partnership in Riverside, California, the largest and most successful supply chain cluster in the United States.

From 1999 to 2004 he was Managing Director of Destination Irvine for the Irvine Chamber of Commerce after a ten-year career with the State of California Department of Commerce as Enterprise Zone Program Manager in Sacramento. Hiller holds a M.B.A. from Michigan State University and a B.S.B.A. in Marketing from the University of Akron.

“I’m excited to get started on this venture and optimistic about where we’re headed,” Hiller stated. “I am amazed at the level of professionalism and sophistication of Destination Angels Camp. We’re going to stay true to DAC’s vision of making Angels Camp the base camp for Sierra mountain sports, and I’ll be meeting with major retailers to be part of the effort. The job also involves creating healthy relationships with a base of hundreds of site-search consultants.”

That transposes into seeking out prospective sports-related businesses, as well as additional retailers as an independent contractor. “We can accomplish so much by attracting new businesses to the area,” he added. “This is great opportunity to expand services to the area, while meeting community needs and wishes and helping the economic climate.”

Hiller is moving with his wife, Bobbie, to Southern California where he will enjoy the company of children and grandchildren. “I also have a daughter in Modesto,” he remarked. “I’ll be working mostly out of the area talking to company executives at their headquarters, but it’s great to have family close by Angels Camp.”

Originally established in 2012 to continue the work of its predecessor, the Brand Leadership Team, DAC is a non-profit, public-private partnership with the City of Angels. The organization has a special emphasis on strengthening the historic downtown as a critical element in the life of the community and in working to build Angels Camp as the base camp for Sierra mountain sports. DAC encourages potential investors and business to “Make Angels Camp Your Destination to Live, Work and Play.”

Its all-volunteer board meets the second Thursday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to noon at DAC Headquarters, 1211 S. Main St., Suite 220, Angels Camp. Board meetings are open to the public. For more information, call 736-0088 or email info@destinationangelscamp.com .
