July at Deborah Marlene's
Mokelumne Hill, CA....This is a time of Patriotic Fun in Mokelumne Hill as well as, a must see for all locals and visitors, alike. Deborah Marlene's Gallery will add to the "fun" by hosting vendors who are in her gallery...outside. All around the outside and inside the Gallery, there will be art demonstrations and a chance to meet talented artisans; including Ingrid Brown of Burson, Clover Gibbs of Mokelumne Hill, and Ron and Carole Kamerlink of Forest Meadows, who sell jewelry at Deborah's. Ruth and Arvid Morrow of Arnold, will be on the side patio show casing her unique painting style. Saundra Mauer, of Murphys will join them in that area and be doing watercolor demonstrations. New to the group will be Steve Bennetts of Burson, who's business "Creative Wood Design" will be represented next to the Gallery....
"My reasoning for hosting all these vendors is simple", says Deborah. "Since Main Street is closed off at Lafayette Street, near the Hotel Leger, after the Parade, I am really hoping that having the vendors all around , will bring folks the short walk down Main Street, to see their wares, and visit my quaint gallery."
Celebrating the month of July, with me in the Gallery will be one of my dearest friends in the County, Elaine (Staben) Cahill. Elaine received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fine Art from San Francisco State University. From there she pursued employment in various commercial arts; including advertising, displays, painting windows and signs. White Pines Logging Museum has a large mural in their facility, painted by Elaine. Aside from the employment that her education offered her; Elaine's obsession has been in the Fine Arts. She has been painting in a multitude of different medias; including oils, watercolors, acrylics, pastels and collage. Her landscape pastels are favorites of mine and one of Crater Lake will be on display.
Elaine's passion for art inspired her to develop "Art & Soul" a charming Gallery, Art Supply Store, and Studio in Cedar Center, in Arnold , around the year 2000 Here she sold paintings, art supplies, and taught art classes. "Her Gallery was my first one to join. It was Art and Soul who gave me my first exposure and sales in Fine Arts.", says Deborah.
Elaine is a long time resident of the Arnold and Dorrington, area and raised her Son, Zack through the school system here in Calaveras County. He is now off living his life successfully, and flashes his wonderful smile, for the cameras in his Modeling Career.
Elaine married Tom Cahill, in the Summer of 2011, and they reside, between Arnold and Palm Desert, living 6 months out of the year in each location. It is in Palm Desert, that Elaine began studying figure drawing in 2007, with Meridy Volz. To date, she has completed and sold many of her wonderful paintings of the human figure.
Elaine has had a lifelong love of nature and is fascinated with light, color and design. Studying the impressionists was a tremendous influence in her style. But, she says she is always open to new styles of painting. She has a very luminous style in her pastels, which will also be featured this month.
A "Meet the Artist, First Saturday Reception" will be held on Saturday, July 5th from 1PM to 4PM. Please join us for this event and let Elaine discuss her painting styles with you.
Summer Gallery hours at Deborah Marlene's are Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10AM to 4PM .
