Local Artist Receives Special International Recognition

Arnold, Ca...Artist Ann Nancy Macomber of Arnold, California, has received a Special Recognition Award in the "16th Annual All Media Juried Online International Art Exhibition" hosted by Upstream People Gallery. This international exhibition received approximately 150 art entries from around the world and 30 artists were selected by the juror Laurence Bradshaw, Professor of Art at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, U. S. A. Professor Bradshaw states this about this specially recognized work: "'ANN NANCY MACOMBER of Arnold, California presents the show a colorful and moving curvilinear quilt with imagery of a butterfly that seems to have flown throughout the space. The quilting technique is well done indeed."'

The artist states this about this specially recognized artwork:

Ann Nancy Macomber, statement for “Flight of Fancy” -

“Creating art in an improvisational manner is a “joyful act.” Inspiration comes from a variety of sources – words, photographs, patterns on fabric and nature. The design for Flight of Fancy began with a huge doodle. Composing the entire piece on my design wall and pinning bits and pieces of fabric in place and finally sewing with a curved piecing technique, created the “design”. Machine quilting finished the piece and created depth and shadow. Hand appliquéing the butterfly was the finishing touch."'

The exhibition will be featured online during July, 2014 at www.upstreampeoplegallery.com and continue indefinitely in the archives section of the website.
