Murphys Homecoming...A Celebration Of Heritage, Community & Of Course Picking The Fastest Duck
Murphys, CA...The gem that is the Murphys Community Park played host to the Murphys Homecoming Celebration last Saturday that featured Music by the Calaveras Community Band, Great Food that was even complimentary if you were a longtime community member and the Annual Duck Races that were this year under the auspices of Calaveras Youth Mentoring....

The gurgling brook was the racetrack and young men from Rite of Passage were the duck jockeys.. Spectators could “bet” on the fastest duck and the bragging rights and prizes that came with finely honed picking abilities.
Would their yellow steed get caught in an eddy, whirlpool or a headwind? Was your duck “due” to paddle well? These questions and more were answered and the orange billed speedsters crossed under the bridge.
