In this highly original and innovative modern interpretation of the classic Peter Pan story, Neverland has been relocated to the gritty core of an urban inner city where the pirates are business executives, and Peter’s band of “lost boys are instead “lost girls living on the streets. The music is a mix of contemporary rock and roll, jazz and hip-hop tunes, with all original choreography by company founder and Artistic Director Sarah May-Davey.
Lead dancers include Michelson Elementary School students Emily Webber as Peter Pan and Lindsey McTague as Wendy, Hazel Fischer Elementary School student Katelyn Smith as Tinkerbell, Christian Family Learning Center student Hannah Cardiel as Tiger Lily, Sarah May-Davey as Captain Hook, and Kecia Bliss as Schmee. The production includes a total of 32 dancers, ranging in age from 5 through adult, from throughout the county.
Company founder and Artistic Director Sarah May-Davey grew up in Calaveras County, graduating from Bret Harte High School in 1996. After finishing college at California State University Humboldt, where she majored in Art and minored in Dance and danced professionally with two jazz and ballet companies, she returned home and started teaching dance classes at the Firehouse Dance Studio in Murphys and at Kline's Fitness Club in Arnold.
