Deborah Marlene's Celebrates 1st Year in Business

Mokelumne Hill, CA...As September rolls on, we are all eagerly awaiting Autumn, not only for some Fall colors but to enjoy cooler temperatures. Thankfully, Deborah Marlene's Art Studio and Gallery is nice and cool inside; Fall colors are starting to show up now, too. This September, Deborah is welcoming Kate Frederick, as her "Artist Friend of the Month." Kate resides in Arnold with her husband Dave. She is a former member of the Arts of Bear Valley and in addition to Deborah Marlene's, she is currently showing her works, at the Aloft Gallery in Sonora. Besides creating her "artistic expressions" Kate also works full time as a realtor, at Coldwell Banker, in Arnold.

Title: Sailing Away By: Kate Frederick Medium: Tempra, it is an Award Winning painting. Now, on display at Deborah Marlene's.)

You will be surprised to see the variety of mediums in which Kate works. " I would describe her style as semi abstract impressionism, says Deborah." Kate will be at Deborah Marlene's for the Artist Studio Tour which is sponsored by the Calaveras County Arts Council, on September 27th and 28th. Please come by to meet this talented lady and get the "artist's view" on her subject matter.

In addition to the last weekend Artists Studio Tour, Deborah will be celebrating her first Anniversary in business at 8242 Main Street, in Mokelumne Hil. The Celebration will be hosted by Renegade Winery- the exclusive winery of Mokelumne Hill. They will be pouring their delicious wines to accompany some tasty grilled treats and cake, on the side patio at Deborah Marlene's Art Studio and Gallery. Join us on Sunday, September 28th from 1PM- 4PM.

This has been a wonderful year, each month I have hosted a different Artist Friend of the Month, and made new friends in the process. " I am very proud to have given exposure to 12 other artists from Calaveras County.", says Deborah. There is such a diversity of styles and many talented artists living in Calaveras County, it has been fun getting to meet some of them and enjoy their work.

Also, it has been my pleasure to work with Three different Jewelry Artists , Ingrid Brown of Ione (Amador County) who makes totally "original fun and affordable jewelry." The Company of Wild Hare Designs- shows the talents of a husband and wife team, Ron and Carole Kamerlink of Murphys. Ron is now introducing his Fire Painted Copper Dishes at Deborah Marlene's. Come in and see what beauty can be etched into copper. Interestingly, this is all done by controlling the heat and size of a flame on a torch. Finally, there is our local vendor; Cat Smiles Designs, which showcases intricate jewelry done in an Egyptian coil style...by Clover Ann Gibbs of Mokelumne Hill. Soaps, cards and other small gifts, including Ruth Morrow's Miniature paintings are also available, for your gift needs. Gift wrapping is free with purchase.

During the Artists Studio Tour, Deborah Marlene will be accepting sign ups for Watercolor Painting Classes, which will begin in October. Deborah is also using this time to relaunch her Feng Shui Business. I am a Practitioner of Essential Feng Shui , receiving my Certificate on January 17, 2007. I read many books on it before choosing to attend the Western School of Feng Shui in Solano Beach, CA. The one week course was followed by a One Year Project in order to get my Certificate. Recently, I have been asked by friends and acquaintances to restart my business here and have decided to do so. Feng Shui principles can help to organize and arrange your possessions in the most pleasing ways. It helps you to purge things that no longer serve you and live with the things you love. Color consulting and arrangement of furniture and art pieces go hand in hand with my Artistic Gifts. If you wish to have more information on classes or a home or office Feng Shui appointment you may call Deborah at 209 753-8507.

This Summer, I really learned about living here in Mokelumne Hill...this has been one "HOT Summer" temperature wise. By 3 PM the Streets here are sizzling on some days and become a place where few wish to venture. In response, my hours have been adjusted accordingly. Currently, the hours are Thursday-Monday 10 AM to 3PM. As soon as we get our 80 degree days, the Pansy Garden will get planted and hours will be Thursday-Monday from 10AM to 4PM. October hours will extend to 5 PM and run through the Holiday Season.
