ACHD Names Kenneth Cohen as Executive Director
Sacramento, CA...The Association of California Healthcare Districts (ACHD) has named Kenneth Cohen as Executive Director, effective October 20, 2014. He will report to the ACHD Board of Directors. "Ken Cohen’s wisdom and extensive knowledge of hospitals, healthcare systems and community-based providers will enhance ACHD's services to its members,” said Mike McCreary, Chairman of the ACHD Board of Directors. “We are extremely pleased to have Ken join the ACHD team."...
Cohen most recently served as both the Director of the San Joaquin County Health Care Services Agency and Chairman of the Health Plan Commission under the Health Plan of San Joaquin County, positions he assumed in October 2003. He was a founding member and first Chair of the Health Care Interpreter Network from 2008-2012.
“I am excited to join the Association of California Healthcare Districts as their next Executive Director,” said Cohen. “I look forward to representing Healthcare District issues publicly and with the state legislature, and working with District Boards and CEOs to build upon their current success.”
Cohen offers ACHD substantial expertise in the management of hospitals and Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC), as well as programs specific to mental, correctional, veteran and emergency health services. He has earned national recognition for his involvement in a number of health initiatives, and has actively worked alongside District Hospital commissions, Boards of Trustees representing public hospital authorities and County Boards of Supervisors.
Cohen’s predecessor, Tom Petersen, served as ACHD’s Executive Director for three years. Petersen will assume a new role with ALPHA Fund, a Joint Powers Authority, which provides workers’ compensation coverage for California’s public and not-for-profit healthcare organizations.
Association of California Healthcare Districts
The Association of California Healthcare Districts (ACHD) is the trade association for Healthcare Districts, which provide health and wellness services in their communities. ACHD provides legislative advocacy, leadership education, operations and communication support to District members.
