Angels Camp Library Friends Host Open House
Angels Camp, CA...The Angels Camp Chapter of the Friends of the Library will host an Open House at the Library on Friday, October 17, 2014 from 3 to 6 pm. In addition to introducing the community to the new Board Members of the Chapter, the event is a thank you to outgoing President Betty Sawyer for her many years of leadership and service to the local library....
“Betty’s leadership skills are hard to replace,” said newly elected Chapter President, Diane Jarvi. “But, she remains on the Board for a transition year and has built a strong organization of library supporters. Even with precarious county funding, she reached out to the wider community and stabilized library support in Angels Camp. We want to thank her in the place where she has made the most difference,” Jarvi concluded.
The Angels Camp Chapter of the Friends of the Library is made up of local members of the County organization. The Chapter sponsors special events at the local library and underwrites much of the costs including: book purchases and magazine subscriptions, computers, printers, supplies, janitorial services. Recently, they hosted the Summer Reading Club party honoring young readers who read more than 400 books over eight summer weeks. Together with the City of Angels financial support, the Angels Camp Library is available as a kind of front room for all community members.
The Open House will include light refreshments.
