Three stages along the street will featured a rotating line-up of live music and entertainment – including popular acts Grover Anderson and his band, Route 88, The Fabulous Off Brothers, Sierra Mountain Band and Maria Behm, as well as jugglers and appearances by Mark Twain and Henry Angel impersonators.

Opening ceremonies started at 10:30am on the main stage near the Visitors Bureau headquarters. Each year Gold Rush Day highlights an aspect of local history and this year’s focus was on the Angels Camp Foundry – otherwise known as California Electric Steel, celebrating 160 years as Angels Camp’s oldest continually operated business.

Behind the main stage at the Visitors Bureau parking lot for a mini gold rush town, where the kids could pan for gold, see a working replica of the Angels Brothers Trading Post and take a step back in time. The Kit Carson Mountain Men, with their black powder muzzle loading rifles and fur caps made appearances throughout the day. The even took care of some reprobates.

An eclectic array of street vendors sold crafts, clothing, food and beverages, and Main Street merchants were be out there too with a sidewalk sale. Food trucks, along with local wines, a beer garden and a rumored Margarita stand will round out the event’s offerings.

The biggest business story was that Market 49 had a soft opening. Market 49 with it's food, coffee bar, chocolates made on premises, and much more promises to become an ancor on Main Street for decades to come.

We have pictures and video so you can relive your day if you attended of whet your appetite for next year.
