Bear Valley Kicks Off 2014-15 Season With Opening Day Saturday, November 29

Bear Valley, Calif., November 28, 2014 –Bear Valley is excited to open the 2014-15 season under the purchase of Skyline International Development, Inc., which is conditional on approval from the U.S. Forest Service. Donned with a new name, Skyline Bear Valley Resorts, Inc., the destination plans to celebrate and improve upon all of the attributes that make it such an attractive and welcoming spot for families....

“We’re going to focus on all of the things that make Bear Valley such a terrific place for the entire family,” said Benno Nager, General Manager of Bear Valley Mountain and Bear Valley Village. “Our goal is to preserve and enhance the welcoming atmosphere people enjoy by providing a higher level of personalized service while working to upgrade the facilities to extend the best overall experience possible.”

Snow making on the mountain will allow Bear Valley to kick off the 2014-15 winter season on Saturday, November 29. Lifts will start turning at 9 a.m. and guests will have the opportunity to enjoy an entire weekend of activities during "Winterfest" starting with a screening of "Pretty Faces" at The Bear Valley Lodge 7 p.m. Visit http://www.bearvalley.com/news/kick-season-saturday for a complete lineup.

This season Bear Valley will increase staff on site to ensure more employees per guest than other destinations. The expanded staff will help visitors throughout their visit, from check-in to skiing the mountain. Other enhancements include the Cub Club ski and snowboard lessons for children ages four to 12 years old. With a larger learning center that includes an indoor facility and a new magic carpet, the program can accommodate over 150 youth skiers and snowboarders each day.

Bear Valley has added two highly discounted passes for college students and military personnel for the 2014-15 season. Free lift tickets will be available to all active military personnel every Sunday, and a $25 ticket any other day including holidays. Additionally, college students and military personnel can purchase season passes for $179. The ski area will also continue its free weekend pass program for fifth graders. Beginning in January, the program provides access to all lifts every weekend for all fifth grade students maintaining a “C” average or better. For seniors 75 years and older, Bear Valley will provide free day lift tickets.

The pending purchase of Bear Valley by Skyline International Development Inc. includes two approved master plans for the ski area and village. Skyline hopes to execute on those plans that include expanded ski lifts from the Village and a development plan to build 350 new units accompanied by a new Village core.

Bear Valley Mountain Cooperative

When Bear Valley Mountain and Village came up for sale in 2013 the community formed the Bear Valley Mountain Cooperative, which raised funds from the sale of memberships for the purchase of Bear Valley. The Co-op extended benefits at Bear Valley along with the opportunity to provide input in the ongoing management of the cooperative.

Skyline was impressed by the passion and dedication demonstrated by the Bear Valley Mountain Cooperative and expressed its desire to work with its leadership to help develop detailed plans for Bear Valley. Through a collaborative partnership with Skyline, the Co-op will continue to sell memberships and provide targeted funding for projects that accelerate improvements at the resort and enhance the experience for its members as a year round destination.

“The Bear Valley Mountain Cooperative is an energized group of people committed to the success of Bear Valley,” said Nager. “We are very fortunate to have their involvement in helping to shape the future of this magical destination and couldn’t be more excited for what’s in store.”
