Studio 4 Dance Theater Presents “The Nutcracker,” A Professional Quality Ballet in Two Acts, December 18, 19, and 20, 2014 in Angels Camp
Angels Camp, CA...2014 Production Features New Characters, Sets and Costumes! Studio 4 Dance Theater’s magical “The Nutcracker” ballet is a holiday treat for all ages, December 18-20, 2014 at the Bret Harte Theater in Angels Camp. Tickets to this popular annual production can be purchased at www.studio4dancetheater.com or by calling 1-800-595-4849. Now in its sixth year at the Bret Harte Theater, Studio 4 Dance Theater launches a fresh, professional quality production of “The Nutcracker” each holiday season while still staying true to the Christmastime adventures of Clara and her Nutcracker Prince. Colorful sets, vibrant costumes, and the timeless music of Tchaikovsky bring audiences back year after year. The 2014 version is set in an orphanage at the turn of the century; Clara’s parents have passed away from a plague, and Dr. Drosselmeyer is a visiting magician. The first act will also boast a brand new set with a backdrop by local artist Tim Smith....
“The Nutcracker” features 56 local dancers ranging in age from 4-50 years old. The youngest dancers warm everyone’s hearts with their first appearance on a stage as little snowflakes, while the more experienced dancers wow audiences with their poise, courage and ability. Artistic Director Tammie Lee has cultivated many of her most accomplished ballerinas for the past six years; Lee creates challenging new choreography each year to showcase each dancer’s developing talent. Brianna Gilbert stars this year as Clara and Ethan Moes once again portrays the Nutcracker Prince. Brook Moes returns as Dr. Drosselmeyer, and Victoria Moes will appear as a new character, the Angel. The production also features Molly Johnson as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Rebecca Elliott as the Dew Drop Fairy, Alyssa Walker as the Mouse Queen, and Fiona Swift as the Snow Queen.
Audiences can enjoy opening night (6pm on Thursday) for a lower ticket price of $13/adults; $10/youth ages 13-17; $7/children 12 and under. Tickets for Friday and Saturday evenings and Saturday matinee are just $15/adults; $10/children 12 and under. There will be “meet and greet” with the Sugar Plum Fairy and other cast members immediately following the Saturday matinee.
In addition to grants from the Wintercreek Foundation and Calaveras Community Foundation, many local businesses and families have stepped up to support this year’s production, including Ruby Parlor No. 46 Native Daughters of the Golden West, Lunch Lady Catering, 1st Impressions Dentistry - Shannon Russell DDS, Calaveras Construction Company, Calaveras County Deputy Sheriff's Association, Timothy J. O'Connor DDS, and Sonora Regional Medical Center.
