Murphys, CA....December Artist Showing at Hovey Tasting Room - The watercolors of Patricia Rohovit will be featured the month of December at Hovey Winery Tasting Room, 350 A Main St., Murphys. An artist’s reception will be held in her honor from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14. Complimentary appetizers will be served and wine will be available by the glass. Saturdays in Murphys - Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Murphys are available at no charge (donations gratefully accepted) on Saturday mornings at 10am leaving from the Old Timers Museum. Please contact Jo Sanders at 209-728-3072 to confirm dates and times or make arrangements for large groups.
December 5 through December 21, 2014 - A Christmas Carol at the Black Bart Playhouse - Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol is presented this holiday season in Murphys at 580 S Algiers Street at the Black Bart Playhouse by Murphys Creek Theatre. A Christmas Carol runs November 28th-December 21st Friday and Saturday Nights at 8pm, Sundays at 2pm. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and students, $10 for children up to age 12. Tickets can be purchased online at www.murphyscreektheatre.org, by calling 209-728-8422 or at the theater box office Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 2pm-6pm. Open Seating starts 1/2 before each show.

December 4, 2014 - Beer Night at Alchemy - Join us on Thursday from 4:30-7:30 as we feature some of the finest craft beer found anywhere from Firestone Walker in Buellton. We will tap 3 very special kegs: Velvet Merkin Barrel Aged Stout, Agrestic (one of the first releases from Firestone's new sour program), and Firestone XVIII, their 18th Anniversary beer that is a blend of many beers with extensive barrel aging. The Northern California Firestone representative will be here, and you will receive a free Firestone glass with your first Firestone beer purchase.
December 5, 2014 - Murphys Open House - Every year on the first Friday in December, Murphys celebrates the holiday season with a community Open House from 5 to 8 pm. Admission is free, the streets are closed and we are ready to celebrate the season. Open House is a great time to peruse Murphys’ wonderful shops, tasting rooms and restaurants, see what’s new, visit with old friends and make sure Santa has your wishlist. Businesses, groups or individuals who would like to be part of the parade should contact Jenny Baxter at 209-736-0567 to reserve their spot. There is no fee to participate.
Wine Down Friday @ Stevenot - Each first Friday of each month from 5-8 pm Stevenot hosts "Wine Down Friday" in the Tasting Room on Main St. Murphys. Grover Anderson at Newsome Harlow - For the third year in a row, Grover Anderson be playing an extended set in the Newsome-Harlow courtyard immediately following the Murphys Open House parade on December 5. December 6, 2014 - Live Music at the Murphys Historic Hotel - The amazing 'Derek Abel Band' will be playing here at the Saloon. This is a incredible band, bring your dancing shoes from 9pm to 12 Midnight.
