Threat Of Shooting Unfounded In Jackson

Jackson, CA...At approximately 18:25 on March 10th, the Jackson Fire Department was dispatched to the 1100 block of North Main Street for a person who had fallen with facial injuries. Upon arrival, jackson Fire Department as well as American Legion Ambulance began treating the patient. Approximately 3 minutes into patient care, a male stepped outside his apartment claiming that his father and brother had both been shot in the head by the patient being treated. The on scene crews quickly realized the severity of the situation and requested law enforcement to respond, as well an an additional ambulance and 2 air ambulances....

The crews backed out of the scene for safety concerns and staged at a safe location. At the same time crews were backing away from the scene, they evacuated the other residents from the apartment/hotel complex for their safety as well. Law enforcement arrived at scene and after a thorough search, no victims were found or any evidence to suggest a shooting did take place. The scene was determined safe again and fire crews responded back in to treat the original patient, who ultimately refused service. The investigation is ongoing.

We are just glad that everyone is safe and that the training the crews receive payed off and they were able to quickly recognize a potentially dangerous situation. Fire, EMS, and law all worked together in a professional manner to mitigate this incident.
