Exclusive Dinner at Grounds Raises Funds for AIDS Research
Murphys, CA - March 5, 2015 – Winemaker Chuck Hovey, Grounds Owner River Klass and Brian Klassen, wine and beer importer, are teaming together to provide an exclusive fundraising dinner for AIDS research starting at 6 p.m. Monday, March 30 at Grounds Restaurant, Main Street, Murphys. “This will be a very intimate affair with only 30 seats available,” said Tricia Slavik, tasting room manager and event coordinator....
In a tribute to his brother, Bob Hovey, Chuck will be riding in the annual AIDS Lifecycle 2015 from San Francisco to Los Angeles May 31 to June 6.
“Ten years ago I went on one of the most rewarding adventures of my life – the AIDS Lifecycle ride,” he noted. “Bob was one of the lucky ones who carried the virus for more than 11 years without showing any symptoms, maybe because of his incredible embrace of life. This was his gift to me and to honor him, I’m going to ride in the AIDS Lifecycle event again this year.”
AIDS Lifecycle is a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride that raises money and awareness for the HIV and AIDS services of the Los Angeles LGBT Center and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. This marks the fourteenth year for AIDS/LifeCycle and the twenty-second for the event overall with thousands of cyclists and volunteer roadies. Hovey is currently training with several local riders who plan to join the ride, as well.
The four-course dinner will be paired with Hovey Winery’s finest varietals and vintages. Cost is $100 per person, and reservations can be made online at hoveywine.com or by calling Hovey Tasting Room, (209) 728-9999. Only the first 30 reservations will be guaranteed a spot; however, a waiting list will be taken for any last-minute cancellations. A credit card number is required to make a reservation.
