Lodi Bowmen – 2015 Cartoon Classic Archery Tournament
Lodi, CA...A Great Success!! Lodi Bowmen’s recent “Cartoon Classic” archery tournament brought out 303 archers from across the state for this 2 day event. The roving course is laid out over the clubs 90 acre property that encompasses rolling hills and creeks, nestled amongst the pine and oak trees near Ione Ca close to Lake Comanche. Archers of all ages from 6yrs to 70yrs came to show their skills. Archers started at an assigned target and the day started with a cannon signal. Target types used were 3D, 2D and paper and with 42 of them, it took several hours to finish your day of shooting. Archers only shot 2 arrows scoring 11-10-8 with a total possible one day score of 924. Some of the top scores turned in: 919, 918, 916, 915, and 908 and as you can tell, there wasn’t much room left to miss. There were several food booths along the shooting path where you could get something cool and refreshing to drink or eat to help keep your strength up for the up and down terrain. On Saturday evening, a tri-tip BBQ was available and the club lit up their fire pit for everyone to enjoy and as there were many people dry camping, this made for a very friendly gathering afterwards and some great story telling! Some of the club members got together with their guitars and “gut-bucket” providing a relaxing evening of music....
The Lodi Bowmen Archery club is hosting the 2015 State Broadhead tournament put on by the California Bowmen Hunters/State Archery Association (CBH/SAA) Big Game Club. This event has traditionally been held in the south end of the state which has made it difficult for archers living in the central and northern part of the state to participate and we are expecting a great turn out in our central location.
Lodi Bowmen’s Wednesday nights shoot begins April 8th 2015 and runs every Wednesday through August 13th 2015. And don’t even think coming more than once would be a waste of time as you believe one shoot would be the same as the next. Club members are constantly changing the course and mixing targets for each nights shoot that makes it different every time you come!
Lodi Bowmen club members have a long standing history of preserving and promoting the sport of archery for everyone. You can find many Lodi Bowmen supporting other archery clubs as they participate as shooters themselves at these events and can easily be spotted by the blue and yellow club logo shirts they wear.
Find out more about the Lodi Bowmen by visiting their facebook page or web site at www.lodibowmen.com . The club opens their range to the public every 2nd Sunday of the month so come on out and meet us.
