Robert “Bob” Manning 1928 - 2015

Arnold, CA...Robert “Bob” Manning passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a brief illness in Spokane, WA. on April 12th.. Born September 10, 1928, he is survived by his soul mate of 65 years, Barbara and children Joan, Bob, Tom, Dave, John, Carol, Chris, Patty, and Laura. As the Manning Family patriarch and community volunteer, he was known for his honesty, integrity, compassion and rock-solid faith. His family, including 18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, were the love of his life...

After retiring from P.G.&E. in 1989, he and Barbara designed and built their dream home in Meadowmont. A long-time resident of Arnold, he was a docent at Big Trees State Park instrumental in the planning and design of the new visitors center, and active in the Arnold Lions Club. As an avid wood-worker he was the founder of the Ebbetts Pass Elves, working tirelessly building wooden toys for disadvantaged children, a labor of love he continued at his new home in Spokane. His basement workshop was legendary among family and friends. He was also an active member of Our Lady of the Sierra Catholic Church where he built the outside seating.

He was a dedicated family man who always made time for his and other children at youth activities. He is fondly remembered by his constant presence and positive support as a volunteer at swimming and track meets.

His family asks for donations to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in lieu of flowers.
