"Ribbit In Peace" Buck King Honored In Paint ~ Photo By Jeff Rasmussen
Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee honored the memory of Warren "Buck" King in paint. Buck who passed away earlier this year was involved in many aspects of the Fair, including serving as the the Fair Manager from 1997 to 2003. King was also on the Board of directors. A post from which he resigned to become the Fair Manager. However his area of expertise was the Frog Jump. He officiated the Frog Jump for more than 50 years. First as a member of the Angels Boosters Club and then as a founding member of the Frog Jump Committee. "I learned everything I know about frogs from Buck, how to tell the male from the female, how to care for them and how to respect them", says Laurie Giannini, CEO/Fair manger. "Buck understood the significance of the Frog Jump and how to leverage it" continues Giannini...
King will be missed but his memory will live on every third weekend in May, here at the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee.
