Sonora, Ebbetts & Monitor Passes Open
Bear Valley, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has removed the snow, cleared the debris and made the necessary repairs to reopen State Route 4 (SR-4) over Ebbetts Pass this morning, Monday, May 11, 2015. In addition, crews reopened Monitor Pass (SR-89) on Saturday, May 9, 2015, and Sonora Pass (SR-108) in Tuolumne County today...
Caltrans opened the passes for the spring season on Friday, April 17, 2015 but closed the passes on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, due to weather conditions.
Caltrans crews responsible for the road opening extend their best wishes for safe summer traveling to those who enjoy the recreational opportunities California has to offer.
For the latest road condition information, the radio may be tuned to the Caltrans Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) at 530 AM, 1610 AM or 1670 AM or call the Caltrans Road Condition Hotline at 1-800-427-ROAD (7623). Real time conditions are also available online and for mobile phones at http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov. Changeable Message Signs with flashing beacons will have information regarding the pass closures.
Please remember, weather and road conditions can change rapidly. Motorists should expect the worst conditions and be prepared when traveling in areas subject to hazardous conditions.
