Ailene A. Haley 1929 - 2015
Wilseyville, CA...Ailene A. Haley passed away peacefully in her home on the Mayflower Ranch surrounded by her daughters and son-in-laws on May 14, 2015. Ailene was born in Jackson, CA on May 10, 1929 to Clyde and Clarinda Watson and was raised on the Mayflower Ranch in Wilseyville where she lived her entire life. Ailene attended Fine Gold, Mayflower, and Banner Elementary Schools and 9th-11th Grade at Calaveras High School....
At the age of 16 Ailene was a passenger in an automobile that overturned on Hwy 88 near Pine Grove. The car landed on Ailene’s arm crushing it. The local doctor wanted to amputate her arm but her parents refused and instead sent her to live with friends in San Francisco where she could receive treatment. Ailene lived there for 2 years and was in and out of UCSF receiving treatment and was able to save her arm. She lied about her age saying she was 18 and was hired to work at JC Penney’s. While there she learned her older brother Clarence was in a plane during World War II that crashed in England and was MIA/KIA.
On March 31, 1951 Ailene married Leland Haley in Carson City, NV and they lived their entire life in Wilseyville.
Ailene drove school bus for Calaveras Unified School District for 29 years. In all those years she safely drove the West Point/Wilseyville Students to school each day no matter what the weather was. Ailene loved the kids she drove each day and knew what they needed whether it was a hug or a new pair of shoes.
Ailene is survived by her daughters Cindy (Rod) Landreth of Wilseyville, Vicky (Joe) Weatherby of Wilseyville, Sister-in-laws Jean (William) Hague of Redding and Aretta Watson of San Andreas. She is survived by 6 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren. Nephews Darryl (Sharon) Hague of Redding, Niece Diana(Jacob) Blank of Redding
