Summer Is For Winter--The Winter's Tale That Is. Shakespeare returns to Theater Under The Stars
Murphys, CA...Shakespeare returns to Theater Under The Stars! What do a jealous husband, a beautiful princess, a thief, a statue of a queen and a bear all have in common? Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale of course – this summer with Murphys Creek Theatre's Theater Under The Stars. Starting June 19th, shows run at 8pm Friday and Saturday nights through July 18th. This year the stars shine on Feeney Park Amphitheatre, 260 Pennsylvania Gulch Road – just off of Highway 4 in Murphys. “The location is perfect- lots of close parking, easy access, full amenities” says Artistic Director Graham Green. “The stage is framed by this gorgeous oak, and the location couldn't be more convenient.”

Starting in 1950 and following a story line 16 years into the future, this Winter's Tale is set to highlight extremes- the conformity valued in 1950 vs. the beginning of the 60s spirit. There is also the old vs. young, and a battle of the sexes that nearly unhinges a kingdom. One of Shakespeare's most critically acclaimed plays, audiences watch as Queen Hermoine is unjustly accused by her husband of infidelity with his best friend. Moods change on a dime and all is nearly lost, until a rouge unwittingly helps to reconcile two kingdoms, lovers who thought they were star-crossed discover they are not, and forgiveness wins over resentment. This quickly shifting play features a cast more than equal to the task of bringing this timeless tale to life. Theater-goers will recognize returning players Joe Conn, Anthony DeGregorio, Eric Owens, Stephen Daly, Sid Marsh, Sara Garcia, Graham Green, Taylor Hunt, and Emily Graham from recent Murphys Creek Theatre productions- and new to Murphys are Emily Kentta, Traci Sprague, Forrest Lark, Dain Morrison, and Mason Conn.
Also new this year are the options for dining experiences. Because the stage is so close to downtown, and walking distance to Outer Aisle, patrons have the option of enjoying a pre-show dinner at the restaurant or reserving a picnic meal for dining at the park. Special theater packages will be available at Outer Aisle.

Tickets can also be purchased in advance at the box office located at 580 S, Algiers Street in Murphys, or at the door an hour before each show. Season ticket holders should call to reserve tickets . Ticket prices are $20 general admission, $18 students and seniors, $10 children 12 and under.
