Chuck Hovey's Medical Recovery Fund ~Kyle Hovey

Murphys, CA...On June 25th at around 4:15 PM my father suffered a severe stroke that disabled the left side of his body and required his admission to the UC Davis medical center in the Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit where he currently resides. We were incredibly fortunate to have been there for him, and we got him to the hospital within three hours of the event so that he could be administered life-saving medicine. Unfortunately, this did not do as much as the doctors had hoped and his condition worsened. The right lobe of his brain had continued to swell, and I had to give the go-ahead for a craniectomy. This is an operation that allows for pressure to be relieved in his head, but left my father without one side of his skull.

This operation, although fortunate for his swelling, means that his recovery will be much longer lived. In addition, while it is very fortunate that he is in such a fantastic medical care center, the costs will be hardy. It is because of those reasons that we as a family decided that we would open up this campaign to give those who wanted to lend a helping hand a solid opportunity to assist in my father's recovery. Rest assured, this money will go to no other benefit than my father's, and I will keep you all updated on his status. For the most part, donations will go to aids like physical therapy needs and hospital bills. We have not recieved any bills yet, but I can imagine that with daily scans, 24 hour 1-on-1 doctor/nurse watch, and constant medication that they will be sizeable.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and donations. I would like to add (as a nearly broke college student) that I understand money can be a scarce resource for many individuals. I know that my Dad would have me add this caveat that if you really need the money, don't worry about it. Your kind words are enough to warm ours and his heart. With that, I extend a heartfelt thank you to all of you who have and have not donated. You are all in our hearts. It is a true blessing to know that we have so many amazing friends to confide in.
