Carl (Doug) and Dot Rasmussen Passed Away In Murphys On December 22, 2015

Murphys, CA...Carl (Doug) Rasmussen and Dot Rasmussen passed away on December 22, 2015 at their home in Murphys, CA. Doug was 71 years old, and Dot was 63. They met in Oakland CA, at the Oakland Fire Department where they were both firefighters. Dot was the first woman firefighter in Oakland. Doug retired as a firefighter after 20 years because of a disability. He and Dot then moved to Sisters, Oregon where Dot was totally committed to Wild Life Rescue. Doug built a small “hospital” on their property where they again saved many lives...

Dot was diagnosed with incurable cancer when she was 49
years old. Doug suffered for many years with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. Firefighters have a shorter life expectancy because of the inherent risks and exposure to toxic and carcinogenic compounds in smoke.

Dot loved her rose garden and Doug loved rock climbing. They both loved playing golf, taking many trips on their motorcycles, and living in their beautiful home.

Doug and Dot lived happily in Murphys for many years, until
illness ended all quality of life. They were inseparable in life
and in death.

At their request no services planned.
