Message from: Michael C. Oliveira Supervisor for District 3 Calaveras County
Arnold, CA...(Editor's Note: We apologize for the delay in this posting. It ended up in the wrong spot.) December 30, 2015, This morning I called a meeting of County Department Heads to address the snow clearing problems in District 3. Due to the recent Christmas storm and the associated snow fall, combined with the freezing temperatures, our roads became icy travel ways for our permanent residents, our part-time residents and our many visitors who enjoyed our winter wonderland. Representatives from the Sheriff’s Office, the Public Works Department, the Road Maintenance Department, the County Administrator Officer and the Board of Supervisors Board Chairman were present to discuss the recent problems and solutions for future needs pending our next major storm.
As a result of that successful meeting, plans are being developed for safer travel with increased visitor attendance. These plans include notification of emergency situations to the above agencies with response procedures to the public. This will be accomplished via Home Owner Association communications, printed materials available on line and to the public combined with a “Town Hall Meeting” to be held with all the departmental representatives in attendance.
We anticipate having this meeting within the next 30 days which will be announced in the media and on the County website. I have been engaged with this issue prior to the storm and will remain engaged answering the calls and emails I have received as a result of the storm.
In closing, I would encourage residents to seek accurate information via known reliable sources regarding these issues.
Please feel free to contact me with any concerns you may have at Mcoliveira@co.calaveras.ca.us
